Nicholas Sparks is known for his phenomenal love stories. I have read so many that I don't even remember the titles.
He recently had one of his books turned into a movie, The Lucky One.
It is a story of love between a soldier and a woman who has lost her husband.
Recently electronics such as Kindles & Nooks have become a must-have! I recently bought my mother one for Mothers Day, now all I have to do is show her step by step how to use it. I personally love having a physical book in my hand.
The new technologies though allow a person to download any book you want at the click of a button. There is no hassle of going to the store to purchase it! It's the beginning of a new age!
Recently the Topeka Public Library had a sale where you gave $5 to purchase a brown bag & as many books as you could fit in there, you kept! It was an amazing sale for a book lover.
All the thrifty spenders were there with their five dollars.
There have been an incredible number of classic comics being turned into movies.
Comics such as The Green Lantern, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, and most recently the Avengers.
There's also the classic Batman, Superman, or Spiderman.
I would be greatly surprised though if anyone had looked at the actual comics before seeing the movies.
They are each unique and truly phenomenal.
Above is the trailer to the latest comic turned to movie, The Avengers.
The Twilight Series is a trilogy written by Stephenie Meyer & caused a huge sensation regarding vampires and wolves. In my opinion, it set off a huge flow of authors to write paranormal series for young adults.
The series is about hopeless love and most of the story is about 'everyday' events.
Teens flocked to this series almost as much as they did to the Harry Potter series.
All three books were made into movies, above is the one for the first books.
Mercedes Lackey is a phenomenal author of over 50+ books and has over a dozen series written by her. She is a fantasy/fiction author and clearly loves her work. She also does & has co-authored many books.
All of her books are stock full of elves, fairies, and creatures not seen in the natural world. Her imagination is amazing and knows no bounds. (Picasa Web Album below of some of her books covers).
The prequel to The Lord of the Rings is being made into a movie! It is a book about one Hobbits' adventures and looks to be an amazing movie! http://www.readingmatters.co.uk/book.php?id=71
Above is a link to a longer review/summary of The Hobbit if you're interested!
